the Municipality of Mithymna, Greece
Welcome to the website of the Municipality of Mithymna, of which I am
honored to be the Mayor since the 1st January 2007. Being born in Mithymna, or
Molyvos, as our small town is widely known, I feel proud of my birthplace, its civilization and its long history.
Famous for its unique natural beauty and traditional architecture, Molyvos is the centre of the Municipality. The picturesque harbor, the hill with the stone houses and the colorful windows, the stone paved streets leading to the impressive medieval castle on the top of the hill, all appear suddenly just like a painting to the visitor. Built on the slopes of mountain Lepetymnos, our villages constitute the municipal wards. Argenos, Lepetymnos, Sykamia, Skala Sykamias and the settlement of Vafeios preserve their authentic character with the old stone paved streets and the traditional houses overlooking the sea.
Surfing in our website you will find useful information about the history and the sights of our region, the activities and the services of our Municipality as well as the facilities concerning tourism. However, you will not experience the indescribable feelings of surprise and admiration and the warm hospitality of our people unless you visit us.
